Sun Peaks Resort Have You Been To Sun Peaks Resort, BC?

Have you been to Sun Peaks Resort, BC? - sun peaks resort

I go skiing at Sun Peaks in January and wondered if anyone could give me a firsthand account / review? I am at the Delta Sun Peaks, as well as information and advice on that would be great. But the most important ... What is the best ski resort? and the best places to eat and drink? I understand Sun Peaks massive nightlife, which is good for me, but good restaurants? Drinking?

This is the first time skiing in Canada, I can not wait!

Hi Lamapo,
I work at Sun Peaks, so I am biased by being a fan. But here are the goods.

3 mountains surround the village. Tod is the biggest. Great fall-line cruisers and glades off the Sunburst chair, Crystal chair has access to some great trees, steep bumps, and an intermediate bowl. Burfield chair has 3000 vertical feet of terrain - favourite haunt of advanced local skiers / riders.

Sundance is mostly a blue mountain with great cruising and tree skiing skiers right. Mt. Morrisey has a all kinds of terrain. Cruisy blues with wonderful changes in pitch and fall line. Skiers right has some really fun groomed glades that are rarely found at resorts, skiers left of the chair has some of the steepest bump runs on the mountain. All three mountains make it the biggest ski area in Canada except for Whistler and Louise.

You said you had booked into the Delta. It is a great hotel. The village is cool because you ski to all the lifts. Really good restaurants as well. In the Delta, the currry for lunch is a favourite, or local 'farm to fork' menu items for dinner.

In the village there are many great restaurants. Some of them have more a pub/bar feel like Bottom's & Masa's or the new Morrisey Public House. If you are hungry, the schnitzel at Powderhounds is a must. The new toffee/ pudding/ guiness icecream at the Globe is awesome. Servus and the Steakhouse are great options if you are looking upscale. There are also three great coffee spots - can't go wrong with any of them.

If you are around Thursday night, do the Fondue dinner. Book ahead. Load the lift at 5pm, fondue dinner in the mountain restaurant, nighttime ski down the mountain. Magical.

Nightspots are Bottoms for the younger crowd, and everything moves to MacDaddy's night club for the late night crowd.

Conditions have been awesome this year. Earliest start every. Inverted temps this morning, -3 C in the alpine, and sunny skies.

Have fun.

Chris
